Focus and Scope
The Audley Webster Memorial Essay Contest is an annual writing competition for all students enrolled in first-year writing courses (ENG 105, 106, 107, or 208). The contest is endowed by the family of Professor Audley M. Webster, a much respected instructor who taught composition courses and closely mentored students for many years at the University of Miami. He received the first University of Miami Freshman Teaching Award in English Composition.
Student entries respond to assignment prompts from their first-year writing courses and demonstrate the skillful and engaging writing produced in our English Composition courses every semester.
The journal is published online annually. Submissions are made available as soon as the judging for the contest has been completed.
